Part One establishes a biblical framework for understanding the difference between good and false shepherds, then moves into unpacking the tactics utilized by false shepherds and how they influence the sheep. The goal of this section is giving wounded sheep biblical categories to understand the how and why behind their experiences.
It’s important to note that false shepherds aren’t limited to the office of pastor—they can be at any level of leadership in the local church from the nursery to the pulpit. The more power and influence a false shepherd wields, the greater the destruction. Also, though most false shepherds described in the pages to come are males, females who hold leadership positions can also be false shepherds. The basic dynamics of how a false shepherd operates is consistent across genders.
